How to plan a big bike adventure.
Planning a bike trip is just like planning any other trip with the exception of needing more stops along the way.
For example I did a week long tour of the Black Hills and Devils Tower in Wyoming and South Dakota which I planned myself and invited friends to come along. It was a great trip and we had a lot of fun. See the pics in the ride section. Any vacation goes better with a bike. :>) Just use all the advice in the other sections of my site, pack well and have fun! These types of trips are easy to plan, and do, so get out there and ride.
My Itinerary For South Dakota:
Start: Devils Tower Wyoming July 2
Day 1: New Castle Wyoming 75 Miles
Day 2: Custer South Dakota 50 Miles
Day 3: Keystone South Dakota 25 Miles (Straight Up past Mt. Rushmore)
Day 4: Hot Springs South Dakota 50 Miles
Day 5: Rapid City South Dakota 63Miles
Day 6: Deadwood South Dakota 30 Miles
I made all the reservations on-line and planned the route using regular road maps and on-line park maps. We had a SAG truck for support but all went really well with no problems. We deviated from the panned route above by doing the Mc Nichols Rails to Trails trail from Custer to Dead Wood. It worked out much better because the traffic on the roads around Mt. Rushmore was terrible.
